The White House is now partnering with popular dating apps in the battle against COVID-19, President Joe Biden's senior COVID-19 adviser announced Friday.
Multiple dating apps like Tinder, Hinge and OkCupid are joining the White House's effort to encourage vaccinations against the virus and to help those vaccinated meet others who got the shot with particular virtual features such as vaccine badges.
'We have finally found the one thing that makes us all more attractive, a vaccination,' Andy Slavitt said Friday during a virtual briefing where the nation's top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci could be seen smiling alongside the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky and U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy.

'We do know that in addition to schooling, financial loss, stress levels, the pandemic also had a negative impact on young people's social lives,' he said before announcing the never before seen partnership with dating apps. 'Social distancing and dating were always a bit of a challenging combination.'

These dating apps will now let users who received their COVID-19 shot display badges of proof on their profiles as well as use filters to swipe through singles that have been vaccinated only. The apps will also help people locate vaccination sites and offer premium content.

'A recent survey showed that more than half of Gen Z are only interested in going on dates with people who are vaccinated,' Tinder said in a statement about teaming up with the White House to help 'Gen Z get vaccinated ahead of a summer to remember.'
Slavitt said that according to OkCupid, users who display their vaccination status are 14 percent more likely to match with someone.
Tinder will let its members display stickers on their profile with sayings such as 'I'm Vaccinated' or 'Vaccines Save Lives.'
Whoever displays those stickers from June 2 through July 4 will receive a free 'Super Like,' according to Tinder.
The platform said mentions of 'vaccine' increased 800 percent since the pandemic began with many users beginning to display it in their bio.
'Mentions hit an all-time high in April, the first month that all adults in the U.S. were eligible to receive a vaccine,' the dating app revealed.
Slavitt said that the White House's partnership with dating apps will 'help people meet people who have that universally attractive quality.'
